A recent paper ‘Tropicalization of fish fauna of Galician coastal waters, in the NW Iberian upwelling system‘ published by Bañón et al. (2024) showed a tropicalization of fish fauna of Galician coastal waters caused by the arrival of 49 Non-Native Fishes species of tropical and subtropical origin as a consequence of the increase in sea temperature.
The increasing presence of new marine fishes in Galician waters is a risk for the shellfish and fisheries sector and illustrates the need for transformational adaptation. This publication is part of the EU H2020 project TransformAr. You can read the full publication at this link.
